About the Plan

Orange County has a long, successful history of land use planning and particularly growth management. This is evidenced by the desirable quality of life found here and the continued growth pressures faced by our communities.

Though guided by timeless principles, a land use plan update is needed. There has been new growth in the County and in the region, shifts in community preferences, evolution of industries, and ever-improving best practices to consider. Looking to the future, we want to build upon the County’s strong foundation of planning and envision the next twenty-five years of Orange County.

Orange County is a community with a diverse array of interests and ideas.  Ensuring that the updated Land Use Plan is reflective of both countywide and area-specific priorities will require extensive community input. Your feedback will help shape Orange County’s future!

Through the comprehensive planning process, Orange County seeks to:

Provide several meaningful and fun opportunities for community members to share their ideas and values to help shape development of the new land use plan.

Update goals and policies to ensure they reflect both countywide and area-specific priorities. The land use plan will focus on the community within the county's jurisdiction.

Identify and evaluate the new issues and opportunities that should be addressed in the new land use plan.

Develop an action plan to implement the County's renewed future land use vision and goals.

Focus on social equity, specific to the needs, communities, and populations of Orange County, with focused efforts made to engage historically underserved or disenfranchised communities and people of color.
